Endless dunes

Ten years ago the situation in Minqin worsened as the water table declined. Many were forced from their homes in northern parts of the district. The government invested in several different experiments in order to bind the sand, but the experiments failed, proving to be only short-term solutions. The desert is still on the move. Remnants of previous attempts to control its spread occasionally stick out from the dunes.
