Reindeer shrine

This antler shrine is a half way point between the town Yar-sale and the tundra where people leave offerings for the spirits. Nenets have Shamanic heritage and follow their ancestors beliefs that the world is full of invisible spirits and forces affecting the living. Shamans are intermediaries between the spirit worlds and the living, healing ailments by mending the soul. Because of their dependence on reindeer Nenets also have a great respect for nature and its resources.
