Yesterday's land

Anjali Gayen stands with her neighbouring children on Sagar island's shore by the Ganges delta. This area used to be pastoral crop land but has been destroyed by cyclones, coastal erosion, tidal ingression, dune encroachment and particulary the previous year's cyclone, Aila. 50 metres from their homes, these increasing extreme weather events bring the end of habitation nearer.
