A warning

"We received a warning before the cyclone was coming in over land, but where could we go? The storm lasted three days. We stayed inside the whole time terrified,” says Rabin Jana, pictured here with his family outside their simple home one year after cyclone Aila. The cyclone tore off of their betel leaf plantation, almost all their crop was ruined. During the three day storm the family lost half a year of income, equivalent to 20 000-25 000 rupees (around 400 euros). To restore their plantation and their livelihood they were forced to borrow money. Now the family must pray that this years harvest will pay off their debt.
