The catch

People in the village of Teluk Meranti make their living mainly as fishermen or farmers. Some also live by catching birds to sell to foreign markets while others depend on the more traditional collection of different roots and vegetation from the rainforest. The fish catch in this area has dropped 70 percent since 1998 because of acidification of waterways.
