A stream of melt-water by the Tapovan meadow. The stream will eventually flow down into the Ganges. This barren area 4,000 metres above sea level is a seasonal home to various sadhus living in caves engaged in spiritual retreat. In recent times the authorities have banned the holy men and women who live here during the summer season. Strict regulations have followed the ever-growing load of pilgrims and tourists in the area. From 2010 a maximum of 200 people are allowed to trek up to the glacier each day.
