Building the wall

The government support the local community in building a 2 kilometre long wall in the south west of Sagar Island. Hundreds of people were killed and more than 22,000 homes were ravaged when the cyclone struck the Bay of Bengal in May 2009. The cyclone destroyed the former wall, smashing it to pieces rendering people homeless and destroying farmland.
