From factory to foundation

A wall builder carries a block along the top of a man made mud ridge from where the blocks have been made. The concrete block foundation is laid down first before being covered by sandbags. They are preparing for the coming monsoon season, hoping to protect themselves and their families from increasing tidal surges and cyclones by rebuilding the sea defence wall. Hundreds of people were killed and more than 22,000 homes were ravaged when cyclone Aila struck the Bay of Bengal in May 2009.
