Involved

People of all ages are involved in the construction of the 2 kilometre sea defence wall. A team of two is required to lift the heavy concrete blocks onto the head of the carrier. Hundreds of people were killed and more than 22,000 homes were ravaged when the cyclone struck the Bay of Bengal in May 2009. The cyclone destroyed the former wall, smashing it to pieces rendering people homeless and destroying farmland.
