The first settlement

It is early morning, we have spent almost 24 hours in a tundra truck and are now 130 kilometres into the Peninsula north of the nearest city Yar-sale . Our driver of this special tundra vehicle fell asleep at the wheel numerous times, something which would usually be of concern. However, our own tiredness combined with the realisation that we are essentially in a tank traversing endless marshland with no obstacles sent us bobbing back to attempted sleep too. Opening our eyes, the Nenets living here are the first we meet and welcomed us in for breakfast and tea by the fire in their chum.
